"You can run, but you can't hide!"
George W. Bush, Oct 9, 2004
at a "loyalty oath" staged media event

I'm right here, Mr. President!

I don't see anyone running away, Mr. President. Do you?

It's easy to say "Bring 'em on," isn't it? Especially when it's not you doing the fighting, but real flesh-and-blood American patriots.

It's easy when asked if you will go back to the United Nations for that last vote, to promise us that no matter what that you will go back and get that vote, to proclaim that "it's time for people to show their cards." That's what you said to us. Well, they were there, Mr. President, and they were ready to show you their cards, but you chickened out again, didn't you, and once again you lied to us. You didn't go back to the U.N. after all.

It's easy boast that we'll "get" Osama bin Laden, "dead or alive". Those were your exact words to us. But you have forgotten about Osama bin Laden, and you admitted recently that these days you don't even think about him very much anymore.

It's easy to put on a flight suit, land on an aircraft carrier and then crow loudly about your so-called "Mission Accomplished," but then the war continues to drag on, our air strikes on Iraqi cities continue to kill women and children as often as they kill those Iraqi "insurgents", and the rebellion continues to strengthen and our troops continue to die.

And now it's easy to get in front of a hand-picked crowd and crow that we are running away from more of your threats. But it's just another lie.

We are most definitely not running away from you, Mr. President. And we are not hiding from you either. Not only that, the truth is that we haven't been. We have been protesting in our city streets, and we have been writing letters to our newspapers, and we have been demanding that you listen to us, the citizens of this country.

It's just that you have closed your eyes instead and you have covered your ears, almost like some small child that tries to deny what is clearly an unpleasant truth. And, as all small children must learn eventually, just saying something again and again doesn't really make it true, now does it?

We believe that it's way past the time that you learned this lesson, once and for all. And we will spell it out for you loud and clear on November 2nd.
